About Farmington Gardens

History of Farmington Gardens

Old Lexington GardensThe site of Farmington Gardens was previously the flower and gift shop Lexington Gardens. Lexington Gardens was built in the late 70’s by Pepperidge Farm as a subsidiary. Pepperidge Farm shortly sold each Lexington Gardens independently. Lexington Gardens was a staple in the community till 2009 when the current owners decided to retire. Larson’s Gardens from Bristol occupied the building for about a year until they found a more permanent location nearby. The building was unoccupied for about a year before the Chabot family started renovation in the summer of 2010. In May of 2011 Farmington Gardens gave a sneak peak of the renovations to the community hosting the Rotary Club of Farmington’s annual wine tasting fundraiser.  Farmington Gardens officially open its doors in September 2011 for a busy fall wedding season.

Farmington Gardens kept many elements of the gardens center including part of the name.
The Greenhouse at Farmington GardensThe building’s footprint and most of the framing remained unchanged with only new framing of the lobby and bathrooms when part of the green house remained. The most unique feature of Farmington Gardens, the green house, was kept with new glass being used for energy efficiency. The back store rooms became the kitchen and bridal suite. Most of the noticeable changes to the site were to the grounds. Farmington Gardens installed about an acre of lawns as well a water feature, pergola and patio. To accommodate larger parties 100 parking spaces were added where the growing houses were located in the back of the building.
